The Savannah Prototype Modeler's Meet is an annual event to showcase prototype models and for modelers to meet and socialize. Held in Port Wentworth, just outside of Savannah, the Meet attracts modelers from around the Southeast and beyond. All are welcome to attend, whether you have models to display or simply wish to learn.
The 2016 Meet will be held on April 1-2, 2016 at the Port Wentworth, Georgia Community Center. The Meet begins Friday at 9am, with clinics and models all day, finishing with slideshows after dinner. Saturday opens at 9am with a door prize drawing after lunch. The Meet concludes at 5pm with dinner and more slides to follow.
The 2015 Meet saw over 70 people in attendance with hundreds of models on display. Let's make 2016 even bigger! Spread the word to all your friends so we can grow. We would like to see 100+ people this year.
We will feature the usual format for RPM meets. There will be clinics, model displays, and brotherhood. We will have a limited number of vendors in attendance as well as several Historical Societies. Due to the emphasis of these meets being on models, please be sure to bring lots of them. We have plenty of room so that is NOT an issue. The more models the merrier!
The 2016 clinics are still being scheduled. Below is the 2013 list:
- The Central of Georgia Railway in Savannah
- Lighting Problems and Projects
- Prototype Trails
- History of the Macon, Dublin, and Savannah Railroad
- Modeling a MoPac GP35
- Homemade Scenery Materials
- Prototype Operations and Signals Using DCC Technology
The cost to register is $20.00 in advance or $25.00 at the door. This is for the entire weekend. Payment by check can be sent to Robert Harpe, 313 Paradise Drive, Savannah, GA 31406-5737.
If you have any questions or would like to present a clinic, clinicians get in free, please let us know using the contact form below.
Make plans to attend and we hope to see you there!
